Our Report: Following the launch of TikTok Symphony–a suite of tools to help content creators produce AI-generated ads–in May, TikTok has now introduced two new AI tools to help creators grow their global audiences.
🔑 Key Points:
Creators can create “custom” avatars to represent themselves or their brand or choose from a range of pre-built “stock” avatars that resemble paid actors and can be used commercially.
There’s also a “translation tool” that auto-detects the original language in a video and then produces a dubbed video, in a different language, with over 10 languages to choose from.
TikTok believes these features will “add a human touch” and allow creators to reach a wider audience, but has confirmed that content created with these tools will be labeled “AI-generated.”
🤔 Why you should care: While there’s a clear need for creators to retain their identity while trying to break into new, global markets (for example, FKA Twigs has created a multilingual “deepfake” of herself to promote her work globally) creators will need to be careful that there are no embarrassing mistranslation blunders, and if people are already fed-up with ads, will digital avatars help with ad burnout?

SEARCH
🌟 Perplexity threatens Google
Our Report: AI-powered search start-up—Perplexity—is directly challenging Google by releasing new AI-search features that display card-based results for factual queries like the weather, time, currency conversions, and answers to simple math queries (just like Google does).
🔑 Key Points:
Perplexity has always returned this type of information, but Perplexity CEO—Aravind Srinivas—says the updates make the results more direct and visually prominent, for quicker access.
They worked with AI search visualization company—Tako—to find a way to display the results for quick visualization, as a result, the results don’t link to external sources (again, just like Google).
This is a bold move by Perplexity to challenge Google’s market dominance and reduce people’s reliance on Google (and other search engines) for their search queries.
🤔 Why you should care: This comes after Perplexity came under fire last week for displaying original content without attributing the author, creator, or publisher, which reignited concerns about AI-powered search engines reducing website visits for businesses, something which Perplexity has since addressed, claiming they’re exploring revenue-sharing deals with publications.

MUSIC
🎶 Google’s groundbreaking AI soundtrack tool
Our Report: Google DeepMind (Google’s research lab) is developing an AI tool for generating soundtracks for AI-generated videos.
🔑 Key Points:
The tool, named V2A (video-to-audio), is Google's response to the plethora of AI-generated video models (including their own), that can create realistic video footage, but with no sound.
DeepMind said V2A was trained on a library of sounds, dialogue transcripts, and video clips, but not many clips contained distortions, meaning “unique sounds” could be poor quality.
Because of this—and to prevent misuse—Google confirmed that the V2A technology will “undergo rigorous safety assessments and testing” before it’s released to the public.
🤔 Why you should care: While AI-powered models for generating video sounds and effects aren’t new—Stability AI released one last week and ElevenLabs launched one last month—DeepMind says V2A is different because it understands the raw pixels from a video and can sync the AI-generated sounds with the video footage, automatically.
NAVY
⚓️ Navy using AI-drones to identify enemies?
Our Report: The US Navy is planning to use AI-powered drones to automatically detect and identify underwater threats, such as hostile ships, aircraft, mines, and other dangers.
🔑 Key Points:
The Navy began evaluating ML algorithms to identify underwater shapes two years ago, and discovered, after a series of tests, that they could detect underwater mines twice as quickly.
They’re testing the integration of AI models with underwater drones, which can distinguish fishing traps from explosives, so they can clear commercial shipping zones or enemy waters quickly.
So far, the integration of these AI models has reduced the number of sailors needed on missions down to 10 or less and, overall, the missions have become 2 days shorter.
🤔 Why you should care: AI-powered underwater drones are already being used in the Indo-Pacific region, but they will need constant and rapid training to adapt to and understand different oceans, terrains, conditions, and constantly changing enemy tactics and capabilities.
The crypto world and AI are doing the tango, and it’s a dance you don't want to miss. Let's dive into how these are more interconnected than you think.
AI is the yin – mysterious and brimming with creative algorithms.
Crypto, the yang, shines bright with transparency and logic.
AI Generates vs. Crypto Authenticates
AI: Churns out tons of content – from articles to videos, showcasing creativity and innovation.
Crypto: Validates everything with digital signatures, ensuring authenticity and trust.
AI Breeds Accessibility vs. Crypto Verifies
AI: Brings forth vast amounts of information and content, making knowledge more accessible.
Crypto: Uses blockchain to verify and secure information, ensuring it's genuine and trustworthy.
AI Is Probabilistic vs. Crypto Is Deterministic
AI: Operates on probabilities, offering a range of possible outcomes.
Crypto: Functions with mathematical precision, providing consistent results.
AI and crypto are like yin and yang, balancing each other out. Together, they are set to transform the digital landscape, bringing both creativity and trust to the forefront.
