TEXT-TO-VIDEO

Our Report: OpenAI has announced that itā€™s testing a new text-to-video AI modelā€“Soraā€“which can create realistic and imaginative 60-second videos, from instructional prompts.

šŸ”‘Ā Key Points:Ā

  • Using prompts, Sora can generate videos in different styles, perform editing tasks (eg. extending videos and changing backgrounds), and create videos based on still images.

  • OpenAI used past research to build Sora, using its existing DALL-E 3 text-to-image model to generate descriptive captions so it can follow the prompt instructions more accurately.

  • Sora is only available to red teamers (experts in misinformation and bias) who are assessing it for ā€œharm or riskā€, and a few designers, and filmmakers for feedback.

šŸ¤ØĀ Why you should care: Sora isnā€™t available to the public yet to stop potential abuse, with OpenAI ā€œengaging policymakers, educators, and artists to understand concerns and to identify positive use casesā€, proving their commitment to making their AI products safe.

In Partnership with Guidde

Itā€™s time to delegate that work to AI.

Guidde is a GPT-powered tool with AI-generated documentation that helps you explain the most complex tasks in seconds.

  • Turn boring documentation into stunning visual guides

  • Save valuable time by creating video documentation 11x faster

  • Share or embed your guide anywhere for your team to see

The extension is 100% free.

PERFORMANCE

  • A week after its rebrand to ā€œGeminiā€, Google has released Gemini 1.5 Pro (for early testing) which is expected to ā€œdeliver a dramatically enhanced performance.ā€

  • It can interpret 1 hour of video, 11 hours of audio, and 700,000 words in one go (more than GPT-4), meaning users can ask it about all that content, at once.

  • For example, when it was given a 44-minute movie to analyze, it was able to summarize the entire plot and answer questions about what reviewers might think.

  • While itā€™s currently only available to developers and enterprise usersā€”through Googleā€™s Vertex AI and AI Studioā€”a full customer rollout is expected soon.

  • Explore job listings on workinai.com to find a role that excites you.

  • For interview prep, switch to the Work In AI GPT and select the ā€˜Interactive Practice Interviewā€™.

  • Provide the job description and upload your CV/Resume for customized practice questions.

  • Choose ā€˜Mock-Modeā€™ for a full interview run-through or ā€˜Practice-Modeā€™ for step-by-step guidance with feedback.

This preparation strategy boosts your ability to impress during the interview, increasing your likelihood of success.

DEVELOPMENT
  • Apple has stepped up the development of an AI tool that makes it easier for developers to write code for testing apps (similar to Microsoftā€™s GitHub Copilot and Amazonā€™s CodeWhisperer).

  • Theyā€™re also building a new AI search chatbot called ā€œSpotlightā€ which allows users to make natural language requests (like with ChatGPT), to search and operate features within apps.

  • This follows the recent launch of its AI image manipulator tool and the announcement made by CEO, Tim Cook, that ā€œmore generative AI features would be coming this yearā€.

CYBERCRIME
  • Google has announced plans to provide a free AI toolā€”that detects suspicious software (and is already used to protect Gmail and GDrive users)ā€”to fight against the use of AI in cybercrime.

  • Theyā€™re also releasing a white paper at the Munich Security Conference (this weekend), which will outline how to use AI for cyber defense and advocate AI research and regulations.

  • This comes after Microsoft announced that hacker groups from China, North Korea, Russia, and Iran had been using AI models (like ChatGPT) to enhance cybercrime operations.

SUPERCOMPUTERS
  • NVIDIA has published a first look at Eosā€”their newest and fastest enterprise-oriented supercomputer designed for advanced AI developmentā€”named after the Greek goddess.

  • Eosā€”currently used by NVIDIA itselfā€”is the world's 9th highest-performing supercomputer (in the latest Top 500 list) for AI tasks and is likely to be one of the fastest.

  • It uses its own advanced accelerated computing infrastructure and optimized software and has been purpose-built to handle extreme AI workloads.

  • NVIDIA is making the Eos blueprint available so it can be used to build supercomputers for companies that need an ā€œAI engine thatā€™s always available and can build AI models at scale.ā€
