🤔 Saudi Arabia has given citizenship to a humanoid robot called "Sophia", making her (or it) the first-ever robot to gain citizenship in the world.
STOCK MARKETS
💹 AI stocks consolidate heading into the end of the week with NVIDIA out-performing the market again. The chip maker is up an impressive 8% this week so far. The move was driven by institutional order flow in the options market, with even the $190 strike price seeing a lot of activity. Morgan Stanley stuck with their $150 price target for the stock heading into year-end. Learn more.

POLITICS
Our Report: In its 54-page quarterly threat report, OpenAI disclosed that—since the beginning of the year—it had detected and disrupted over 20 foreign-influence hacker groups that were attempting to use its AI tools (namely, ChatGPT and Dall-E) to influence and interfere with election results.
🔑 Key Points:
In most cases, these bad actors used ChatGPT and Dall-E to generate articles, build websites, create social media profiles, post content, and reply to messages to influence public opinion around elections.
The report details that the malicious activity predominantly came from countries like China, Russia, Iran, Rwanda, and Vietnam, but not all campaigns were related to governments or government agencies.
Although bad actors ”experimented” with OpenAI’s models to spread misinformation, OpenAI “have not seen evidence leading to breakthroughs in their ability to create new malware or build viral audiences.”
🤔 Why you should care: OpenAI’s report aligns with US Intelligence officials who, earlier in the year, warned that “foreign actors are using AI to more quickly and convincingly tailor synthetic content” and AI should be seen as a “malign influence accelerant, not a revolutionary influence tool,” although OpenAI has built AI-powered tools to increase its threat detection capabilities, which has cut analytical tasks down from “days to minutes”, in anticipation of the biggest year of elections.

AI SEARCH
Our Report: OpenAI has confirmed that SearchGPT—which will give users real-time answers to search queries (like Google does), alongside source citations, which was first launched in July as a prototype—will be integrated into ChatGPT by the end of the year.
🔑 Key Points:
While publishers can expect to receive more website visits and increased clicks as a result, they will not get any revenue from ads, as initially expected, instead, they’ll be compensated through clicks and website visits.
OpenAI aims to balance the user experience of “wanting to find an answer about recent events or information” with the publishers’ “need to be correctly attributed, sourced, and have website visits driven back to their sites.”
So even though SearchGPT will not mean more ad revenue for publishers, it should generate more powerful and meaningful clicks and website visits, from the right audiences, with intent.
🤔 Why you should care: Even though SearchGPT will likely be used by big brands (data shows that it’s bringing in more website visits and clicks than rival AI search apps, like Perplexity) experts feel it’s unlikely to outcompete Google—as it (and other AI-powered search tools) is still prone to deliver inaccurate results for simple search queries (remember Google’s AI Overviews feature, telling people to put toxic glue on their pizza)—but it will become a key player in the search market and is likely to change people’s search behavior.
Do you think AI-powered search engines will outrank traditional search engines, like Google? |

AI CHIPS
AI chip maker AMD revealed its latest AI chips—the 5th Gen EPYC 9965 and MI325X—during its ‘Advancing AI 2024’ event, as it continues to battle NVIDIA and Intel for market share in the AI chip space.
AMD announced that the 5th Gen EPYC 9965 outperformed Intel’s 5th Gen Xeon chip, but it hasn’t yet been able to test it against Intel’s newest 6th Gen Xeon chip (which it launched last month).
However, AMD stocks fell because, despite revealing that MI325X outperforms NVIDIA’s H200, NVIDIA is shipping its next-gen Blackwell B200 GPU (MI325X’s main rival) in Q4, but MI325X will not arrive until 2025.
