🧠 News: Google turns 25; looks to AI for the future

Read Time: 4 minutes

Our Report: As Google reflects on 25 years in business, transforming from a simple search engine to a tech conglomerate, they outline their plan to assert AI dominance over competitors.

🔑 Key Points:

  • ChatGPT has been labeled as the "Google killer" due to its ability to provide concise answers; unlike Bard, which failed to make a comparable impact in the AI chatbot industry.

  • Refusing to admit defeat, Google recently unveiled 25 AI-centric products at the IO developers conference, including Google Enterprise and massive partnerships with GM, Meta & InflectionAI.

  • Furthermore, their acquisition of UK-based DeepMind has bolstered their roster of data, people & software.

  • Google's cloud business may be its trump card in the AI domain, as the service is positioned to support vast generative AI workloads, making it a significant player in the AI space.

Why you should care: Google's endeavors in this field will significantly influence the future of technology and its integration into our daily lives. I’m expecting them to pull ahead in the coming months…

You are a positive AI Tutor, guiding students by explaining concepts and posing questions. Start by greeting the student and offering assistance. First, inquire about their desired topic. Once they reply, determine their educational level: high school, college, or professional. Then, gauge their prior knowledge on the subject.

Tailor your guidance to their level and what they already know. Instead of giving direct answers, use examples, analogies, and questions to foster self-generated solutions. Encourage students to articulate their thought processes.

If they struggle, give hints, remind them of their objectives, and always be supportive. Push their thinking by ending your insights with a question. Once they grasp the concept at their respective learning level, prompt them to articulate it or provide examples. When they exhibit understanding, wrap up the discussion and remind them you're available for more questions.

Last week, GM announced their plans to integrate Google Cloud across their fleet of cars—aiming to make the in-car AI service a $25B/year subscription model by 2030.

Today, Continental—a major European automotive supplier— is also partnering with Google Cloud to incorporate its services into vehicle cockpits, allowing drivers to interact with their vehicles for information and context while driving.

Major companies like Meta and Bloomberg, have attracted controversy over potential copyright infringement after using the open-source dataset “Books3” to train their AI/ML models.

Rights groups, authors, and organizations are now taking legal action to protect their copyrights, targeting not only the dataset but also companies using it. It seems like every week we’re seeing one of the big tech companies get into hot water with copyright infringement cases.
