Our Report: Baidu, upon receiving approval for releasing their AI chatbot, Ernie, has unveiled ten novel AI applications & over 70 different language models—readily available to the public & governmental departments.

🔑 Key Points:

  • For context: ChatGPT, Bard & Llama 2 have not officially entered the Chinese market because all major US tech firms face restrictions and require approval for release in China.

  • At a conference on Tuesday, Baidu mentioned that its AI-powered cloud storage offering is already being used by over 6M individuals and 10,000 firms to help individuals and teams sift through documents, translate materials, and produce content.

  • They also unveiled many new generative AI products, including products aimed at helping in areas such as traffic regulation, financial investigation, and coal mine logistics.

  • Notably, Baidu has a head start on the Chinese market & has close ties with government departments, including transport, logistics & tourism.

In Partnership with Masterworks

Billionaires wanted it, but 54,578 everyday investors got it first…

One platform is taking on the billionaires at their own game, buying up and securitizing some of history’s most prized blue-chip artworks for its investors. In just the last few years, its investors have realized annualized net returns of 17.8%, 21.5%, 35%.

It's called Masterworks.

Their nearly $1B collection includes works by greats like Banksy, Picasso, and Basquiat, all of which are collectively owned by everyday investors. It's easy to get started but offerings can sell out in minutes, however, as a trusted partner.

Zoom just released its AI companion, which integrates features from Llama 2, ChatGPT, and Claude—offering meeting recaps, content creation, task suggestions, and brainstorming assistance.

Zoom was in some hot water last month regarding its privacy practices; thus, they’ve pledged user privacy to regain some of its market share from its peak in 2020.

Meta faced an internal conflict between teams working on AI models, leading to abandoning one model, dissatisfaction among Llama (Meta’s AI model) developers, and the mass departure of over 14 employees.

Over half of Llama's original researchers have left Meta since February. Aside from the obvious suspicions this raises, an event such as this highlights the difficulty of retaining top talent in AI.

All 50 US states' attorney generals have urged Congress to establish a commission investigating AI's role in child exploitation after concerns over AI's ability to generate deepfakes, making exploitation "easier than ever."

Although the commission aims to devise strategies to prevent AI-generated material, no sweeping laws are in place akin to the EU AI Act.
